Who are we, what do we do and what`s in it for you ?

We are a small family owned and run business - or rather an amalgamation of two family businesses.

Peter Firman is as old as the hills themselves and has been involved in Fork lift trucks for over 30 years setting up P R Firman Forktrucks ltd way back in 1974. During that time he has seen the industry evolve always keeping abreast of changes and seeking out the very best value for his customers. he has sold and maintained literally thousands of machines to customers who are very vocal in their support coming back time and again with repeat business. his client base covers multi-national companies through to the smallest of cottage industries and he has supplied machines that range from huge container handlers down to tiny pallet trucks with pretty much everything in between.

Henry Firman, both younger and far better looking has been involved in the motor industry for almost 10 years and set up Prestige and Performance Cars Ltd a very successful company selling mainly Porsche but also some Ferrari, and other top Marques. A feet on the ground approach and a lean towards "ordinary" people, selecting cars in the lower and middle price ranges has helped company grow steadily, this year will see a turnover of over two million pounds. If the marriage between motor cars and fork lift truck sounds strange think again, Porsche, Lamborghini, Fiat, Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi to name but a few all have links with industrial / agricultural machinary.

Both men genuinely share the same belief that the way to succeed is to be straight and honest from the outset, "if it`s second grade then say so, that way when you say something is good your words have substance. You also get the one form of advertising money can not buy - customer satisfaction, word of mouth and ultimately repeat business". Many companies pay lip service to this approach but few deliver.

There are loads of people selling Fork lift trucks so what makes you so special ?

What we do is not rocket science. We simply source our trucks worldwide using fluctuations in currency, dealer overstocking and local climatic changes (in the business world) - the weather plays very little part in our work unless it`s a particularly warm day and we have to send out for ice-creams. We also exploit localised differences in the way machines are used (and abused!).

Does that mean that your trucks are "grey imports" ?

Yes they are but "grey import" is only a term used by those with vested interests to describe machines brought into the country by people other than the main dealers / importers. Fork trucks are less expensive on the continent and some people importing a machine want higher profit margins than others. One would assume that were a monopoly to exist on importing a particular type of machine it`s price would be higher.

So are these machines different ?

Yes - they`re cheaper! They are made in the same factories by the same manufacturers, they don`t have lawnmower engines, clockwork gearboxes or pram wheels, some times they are different colours to suit different countries tastes (or to make them distinguishable from their more expensive brothers and sisters) but new machines come with CE plates and / or certificates and all come with full lights and mirrors as standard.

What if they go wrong ?

All new machines come with 12 months parts and labour warranty, refurbished machines come with 6 months parts and labour warranty and good used machines come with 3 months parts and labour warranty. Work is handled by a network of dealers the length of the country. If you ever require spare parts for any Japanese machine remember we source from the continent where they have a 95% first pick, come DHL overnight and prices are typically 30% - 50% cheaper than those in the uk. Should I buy a new or used machine ?

For the same price as many people`s used forklifts we can supply brand new machines. This has the obvious benefit of reducing the running costs to their absolute minimum. It also allows you the comfort of knowing exactly how a machine has been used over it`s entire life. If image is important your workplace will not be spoiled by a rusty machine with dents and graffiti all over it.

We do come accross some second user machines which to be honest you would be hard pressed to tell apart from their brand new counterparts. Often firms use equipement for very short periods before disposal and In some countries a forklift truck operator is a skilled member of the workforce who takes great pride looking after "his" truck with absolute pride. The benefit to you is a fully checked over immaculate unit at a large saving over even our new prices.

What type of Forklift Trucks do you supply ?

We tend to favour Japanese built machines suchToyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi as experience has shown them to be extremely reliable and scales of economy make parts both affordable and readily available. We supply all fuel types, Gas diesel, electric and coal (just joking), in all configuartions, triple lift masts, side shift, special attachments, long forks etc. At any time we have access to literally thousands of machines so if what you want is a little unusual don`t be afraid to call.

We can supply machines on outright purchase, hire purchase with a deposit or on a maintained contract over a set period. Our rates are competetive and available on request. We bravely shoulder the heavy burden of part exchanges when required.
